Marblemount, WA to Twisp, WA: 101 Miles

Heading into the North Cascades National Park:

East of Diablo, the terrain got serious

One of those signs that reminded us that we werenÕt in the east any more.

The view was spectacular as we climbed into the mountains.

The dripping snowmelt provided welcome relief from the heat.

Our first high point. Note the snow in the background, which we started seeing at about 4,000Õ.

Our high point for the week, achieved about 50 miles into our day. As we rolled east out of the mountains, the climate became much drier.

HereÕs a small slice of the view from Washington Pass.
