Our obligatory stop in Sturgis

An iconic Sturgis spot, apparently only open during Bike Week.

From Sturgis we backtracked by van to Deadwood, where resumed our ride to Custer in the 100 degree heat. We also discovered that the Black “Hills” of South Dakota are in fact MOUNTAINS, as we climbed to multiple passes above a mile in elevation.

Crazy Horse Mountain

This is at the peak of the ride from Hill City (aptly named) to Custer. When completed, this memorial will dwarf Mt. Rushmore.
